- Name: C/Selector Author: Devil/1oo%
- Type: CNet door Release: 08-Mar-98
- Vers: 1.0
-
-
- ...introduction --.
- - - ----------------------------------------------------------------------'
- You may know the problem. You want to give a user some files and you don't
- want to adopt these files anywhere or you are really sick of using CNet's
- local-mode and the "*S" command, because you always need to enter the full
- path to the file. Or you just have one of your users on the phone and he
- asks you to give him some special files and he wants to download it later,
- and this "later" is mostly the time when you're surly not in front of your
- computer. That's why I wrote this door. Similar programs for the same
- purpose exist. But they didn't work for me, so here's my solution:
- C/Selector!
-
-
- ...requirements --.
- - - ----------------------------------------------------------------------'
- C/Selector requires OS 2.0 or higher and the reqtools.library (because I
- give you a file requester on your CNet screen instead of a dull path+name
- prompt!) installed on your system.
-
-
- ...installation --.
- - - ----------------------------------------------------------------------'
- This package includes two different version of C/Selector. The first one is
- for all those CNet/3 SysOps - the second one is only for CNet/4.30+. If you
- still use an older version of CNet/4, especially versions below 4.21, try
- the CNet/3 version of C/Selector, or there will be a lot of problems with
- the saving of OLMs and stuff.
-
- Just copy the version of C/Selector fitting your CNet-installation to a
- location on your system you like. I prefer "PFiles:1oo/Selector/" because
- you should know where you keep all this fine 1oo% products! :)
-
- Start a text-editor load "CNet:BBSMENU". Add the following line at the
- BOTTOM of the "1; Maintenance" menu.
-
- SELadd |#2PFiles:1oo/Selector/Selector}|
-
-
-
- ...usage --.
- - - ----------------------------------------------------------------------'
- Start C/Selector without arguments. You'll see the usage template that will
- look like this:
-
- 1oo% C/Selector v1.0 written by Devil/1oo%
- ------------------------------------------
- Usage: Sel <Handle|Port#>
-
- Valid arguments are:
-
- a) the port-number, if you want to select files for a user thats just
- logged on to your BBS, or...
-
- b) the users handle - in that case, C/Selector searches CNets ports for the
- handle to see if he/she is online. If that is not the case, your userdata
- is scanned for the handle, allowing you to select files "offline", they
- will be written into "Mail:Users/<UUCP-ID>/_Select3" (that is, the users
- select-list).
-
- Next, a requester pops up, and you can (multi)select the files you want to
- give to the user.
-
- Then, C/Selector tries to Lock() these files. If everything went ok it will
- look like this:
-
- 1oo% C/Selector v1.0 written by Devil/1oo%
- ------------------------------------------
-
- SomeWhere:Full/Path/to/the/Files/Filename1.ext ... done.
- SomeWhere:Full/Path/to/the/Files/Filename2.ext ... done.
-
- 2 file(s) added to <Handle>'s select-list.
-
- If the user is online while you select files, he/she will recieve an OLM,
- looking like this:
-
- **** System Message (just sent)
- <Your Handle> on port#x added 2 file(s) to your selectlist.
-
-
-
- ...history --.
- - - ----------------------------------------------------------------------'
- Changes/Fixes Date:
-
- v0.8 first working (?) version of C/Selector 28-Sep-97
-
- v0.9 some major changes for CNet/4 13-Jan-98
-
- v1.0 another change to the OLM routines because of 08-Feb-98
- CNet/4's new OLM handling.
